Are you sitting comfortably?
Let’s begin…
When you are playing at tournament level you must make sure you are sitting comfortably before you start your game of Carrom. It’s the same advice for computers users. You should be near enough to reach the board without having to stretch.
It’s not a good idea to sit on the very edge of the seat.
Sit straight with your legs in front of your chair and your feet firmly on the floor.
You need to ensure that your feet don’t cross an imaginary line
You are not allowed to move your chair either.
The umpire will foul you and give you the equivalent of a red card.
A trick, if you are a bit of a fidget, is to hook your legs around the front of your chair.
You should line your body up with your striker as this will help you pot the carromman.
Also make sure you are at the correct height to play.
Of course this is advice for people who enter tournaments and take the game seriously.
Most Carrom fans will play anywhere. I have played it in my garden sitting on the lawn, and it’s OK for a few games. Only a few though. Not because of any discomfort from not sitting correctly, but the bloody English weather. Rain does stop play.
