A carrom set-up

I’ve been asked to explain how to set up the game of Carrom.
You need a red counter, the queen and she goes in the middle of the carrom board. 9 black and 9 white, well brown actually as they are wooden, arranged alternatively around the queen. then in the next circle, place a matching colour against counters. Then the 3rd and final circle fill in with remaining counters, alternately.
Below is a picture of how to set up a carrom board. Although I haven’t used a thousand words you’ll get a better idea if you look at the picture.

Here is a link to a video where a player is setting up and does so in less than 2 minutes.
I hope this helps.

Carrom board specifications

The standard size for Carrom boards is as follows.
The board is square shaped, and so it follows that each side is the same.
The play area is 73.5 cms square which is nearly 29 inches for those of you who, like myself, still have dificulties with the metric system.3D carrom board
The frame around the board should be a minimum 4cm in width.
The overall size of the boards may vary slightly because of the different widths of the frame, but it is not a problem as long as the playing area inside remains at 73.5 cm.
The pockets in the corners of the board are 4.5cm in diameter.
The boards play surfaces should be made from top quality plywood.
The frame is usually hardwood.
It would be prohibitively expensive, financially and for the enviromnent to manufacture boards from solid wood.

The best way to look after your carrom board

Natural Carrom BoardA happy and healthy new year to all you Carrom fans and also to any poor souls who have not played Carrom before.

Maybe this will be your lucky year. Well it will be if you got a Carrom board this holiday. Carrom boards have sold well in the lead up to Christmas. Although not yet up to the 4 million Wiis Nintendo have sold in the past month it is encouraging that Carrom is growing in popularity.

What is a Wii?

Is it as much fun as a game of Carrom with your mates? Opinions please.
